When should I start the stack?

This is your surgeon's call. Practices publish their own pre-operative instructions and their own stop list, and those govern the timing. Show your surgeon the label and ask when to start. The products themselves are built for the weeks around a procedure.

What is actually in it?

The stack is two products, and every dose is published. Nutrition Blend is whey protein concentrate at 20 g of protein per 30 g scoop, one scoop daily. Daily Support is a multivitamin whose panel includes vitamin C 500 mg, zinc 15 mg, vitamin E 15 mg and vitamin D3 1,000 IU.

No. Nothing in the stack is a drug and nothing is prescribed. It is whey protein, vitamins and minerals, sold as food and dietary supplements.

Will this make my recovery faster or my scar better?

What we can tell you is what these nutrients do in the body, and what has and has not been measured in cosmetic surgery patients. No claim here is a promise about recovery speed or scar appearance. Our evidence page states it plainly, including the studies that argue against us.

Does my surgeon have to be a Truthe partner?

No. Anyone can order. If your practice is a partner they may stock it on their own shelf, or give you their code for the online store.

Can I use my HSA or FSA?

Why protein?

New tissue is built out of protein. The joint consensus statement from the American Society for Enhanced Recovery and the Perioperative Quality Initiative says nutrition should be restarted immediately after surgery, and that protein delivery is more important than total calorie delivery. Why vitamin C?

Normal skin holds high concentrations of vitamin C, and one of its established jobs there is stimulating collagen synthesis. Pullar JM, Carr AC, Vissers MCM, Nutrients 2017;9(8):866, PMID 28805671. Daily Support carries 500 mg. That is a mechanism, not a promise about your result.

Why zinc?

Zinc is a cofactor for many of the enzymes involved in cell membrane repair, cell proliferation, growth and immune function. Lin PH et al., Nutrients 2017;10(1):16, PMID 29295546. Daily Support carries 15 mg. The caveat is on our evidence page: where oral zinc has been tested head to head against a wound outcome, in chronic leg ulcers, a Cochrane review found it did not appear to help (Wilkinson EA, Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews 2014, PMID 25202988).
