eh-PIT-ah-lon
A synthetic version of a pineal gland peptide that may activate telomerase — the enzyme that maintains chromosome caps associated with aging.
Also known as: Epithalon, Epithalone, AGAG
Last reviewed: April 2026
Epitalon is a synthetic tetrapeptide (Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly) based on epithalamin, a pineal gland extract. In research, it has been shown to activate telomerase — the enzyme that maintains telomeres (the protective caps on your chromosomes that shorten with age). It may also regulate melatonin production and circadian rhythm.

Different anti-aging mechanism. Rapamycin targets mTOR/autophagy. Epitalon targets telomeres. Limited head-to-head data. Rapamycin has far more research support.
Rapamycin
The most studied longevity compound — activates cellular cleanup by telling your cells to switch from 'growth mode' to 'maintenance mode.'
